Stiffkey saltings at high tide

Location

View from Cley Mill
Seal colony at Blakeney Point

Hawthorns is on the edge of the village of Stiffkey, off the A149 on the North Norfolk coast. The village is roughly 4 miles to the East of Wells-next-the-Sea and to the West, a similar distance from Blakeney. It is a very peaceful spot, and from the patio, you can look across the fields and see Blakeney church in the distance.

Hawthorns is just off the path between the village and the saltings, and is therefore very well located for both walking into the village (to the pub or stores) and the saltings for wonderful walks or spending the day with the children in and out of the water. If not on foot, Hawthorns is accessible by road from the village and there is ample parking in it's own grounds.

The Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path runs in both directions hugging the Saltings (for walking and mountain biking) but several paths also take you out across the saltings to the sand and sea beyond.

There are many attractions in the area, including stately homes (such as Holkham Hall and Blickling Hall), the Georgian town of Holt, Burnham Market, seal trips from both Morston and Blakeney, art galleries and Sandrinham to name a few. Golf, horse-riding, cycling, canoeing and sailing are all available nearby. The area is also very popular for bird-watching.
